Richie Lombardi – Coach
Ugh? Man that was an ugly snatch yeah but that’s ok right? I’m sure it’s ok because the person next to me is just ripping it off the ground and they win the workout all the time. How many of us have thought this? I know I have at some stage during my CrossFit life.
This month’s coaches tip is about virtuosity. This is the thing us coaches bang on about (which is important!) but it also comes down to what you enforce on yourself during each session. Do you want to be known as the person who the coaches and your peers cringe at when they see you do a technical lift no matter how many times you’ve been given the same queue or do you want to be the person that everyone stops and watches with gasps of grace and elegance? I know which one we as coaches would rather.
So now it’s time for you to take some ownership, do you continue to do the same thing over and over again and get little to no change in results or do you stop, listen, breakdown the movement, stop counting poor reps in search for virtuosity. Yes your times will slow down in the beginning but over time you’ll get faster, feel better and miss less reps, then your times will improve and a nice little bonus you’ll be less likely to injure yourself #winning!
CrossFit draws from our own life experiences in many ways. Failures and triumphs are things which form a part of our mental fortitude the only difference is when you step through the doors at CrossFit it doesn’t care about the person you’ve been it cares about the person you’re aiming to be.
So when the time comes and it will, you have to make the call. What person do I want to be? Happy lifting good people.
