Here is a bit of information about the amazing team at SF Gym, who keep everyone motivated, organised and safe in the gym.

Tracy Cooper – Director and Head Coach

Head Coach and Owner Tracy Cooper overhead squat | SF Gym | West Coast CrossFit | Perth, Australia | www.sfgym.com.au

In 2008 my dream became a reality. I affiliated with CrossFit and started the journey to open my own facility. I had already been a personal trainer for a few years prior to this so knew I was in for some hard work, it’s not as ‘glamorous’ as the ads make it out be! SF Gym was the second CrossFit in WA and is now one of the largest.

I was always involved in sport as a kid, I did everything you could imagine. Competed in athletics (track and field), swimming (state level), netball, softball and dancing. Performing was my passion so that became my number one focus and I was lucky enough to turn that passion into a career spanning 15 years. I have performed all over the world in various Musical theatre productions, opened the ARIA Awards, choreographed and performed in more than 30 children’s stage shows and taught dancing to all levels from ages 3 and up to professional just to name a few!

It was time for a change in vocations and fitness being such a massive part of my life becoming a PT seemed like a natural progression. I was head hunted directly out of college to work at Lords Sports Club. I worked there for a few years before it changed hands to a Council run facility. This was the perfect opportunity to open my own facility and I did. Opening SF Gym has been the best decision I have ever made. It’s my second home and my second family. Coaching is the greatest job of all, helping people improve their lives is what makes me keep doing what I love. Going to work is not a chore, I’m one of the lucky ones. I am available for one on one PT, group PT and individualised programs. I will help you achieve your goals.

Richard Lombardi – Coach

Coach Richie Lombardie bar muscle up| SF Gym | West Coast CrossFit | Perth, Australia | www.sfgym.com.au

Richie recalls his first CrossFit workout and the clear vivid image of his pale face looking like he’d seen a ghost. From that moment on he knew that CrossFit was the way forward and so his journey into this world of AMRAP’s (as any rounds/reps as possible) and EMOM’s (every minute on the minute) began.

At this stage he was already a personal trainer and loved it. Richie had given up playing soccer after playing for over 10 years, semi-professionally for the last 2 years. He had always loved the team sport environment and soccer provided him with a great platform for future fitness and also freedom of expression. Once moving on from soccer Richie did what a lot of guys do head to the gym and pump those weights. At the time it was great, he was learning his own limitations and also the human movement patterns which lead him to the path of becoming a personal trainer. Once he had his qualifications as a trainer he just started experimenting with CrossFit when he stumbled upon SF gym and instantly knew that this was the place for him to grow as both an athlete and trainer. After about a year or so Tracy asked Richie to come on the staff as a coach. This was a massive highlight as now Richie would get to coach something which had given him so much joy and a sense of achievement.

So now we come to the present day and the experience of becoming a coach is still one that excites Richie the same way it did when he first started. The ability to help someone move better and more efficiently is what he is all about; nothing thrills him more than seeing someone nailing a movement that has plagued them. Nothing.
